Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic has completed his seventh NBA regular season. The five-time All-NBA First Team member averaged 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 7.7 assists in 50 games.
Entering his first playoff run with Los Angeles, Doncic is looking to replicate the individual postseason success he had with the Dallas Mavericks. In 50 career playoff games, Doncic is averaging 30.1 points. This ranks second in NBA history, trailing only Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan.
As he prepares for an opening round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, a team he eliminated in the Western Conference Finals last season, Doncic announced exciting news.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Doncic’s foundation announced a new partnership with Jr. NBA. The Slovenian superstar reposted the news on his story.
“Big news! We’re teaming up with @JrNBA and @positivecoachus to bring our Total Hoops Approach into their programs and clinics,” the Luka Doncic foundation announced. “Basketball should be fun, meaningful, and accessible for every kid, and we’re making it happen!”
Doncic’s work in the community is part of what made Dallas fans so upset he was traded. His tribute video from the Mavericks included several clips of him doing community work, and this latest announcement is another instance of that.
Winning the Bob Lanier Community Assist Award in April of last year, Doncic further solidified his place as one of the NBA’s most charitable stars.
“Basketball has given me so much and I have a big responsibility to give back by helping wherever I can,” he said last year (via NBA). “It means everything to me to keep growing my foundation’s work by supporting those leading amazing community projects, connecting with more young people and spreading more generosity and kindness. I hope we can make an even bigger impact next year.”
