Brisbane Broncos Limited has announced the Australian Rugby League Commission’s agreement with the Australian Government to fund a ten-year Pacific Rugby League Partnership. This initiative will introduce a Papua New Guinea-based team to the NRL Telstra Premiership Competition. As part of this expansion, the ARLC will distribute $4 million to the existing seventeen NRL clubs, with the first installment of $1.75 million being paid in April 2025. This expansion is expected to enhance the league’s reach and provide financial benefits to the current clubs.

Broncos superstar on the podium in Dally M race after destroying table toppers — Leaderboard Rd 8
Payne Haas has moved onto the podium in the Dally M Medal race after the Broncos’ stunning win over the previously unbeaten Bulldogs.
The 25-year-old polled five votes alongside Adam Reynolds as Brisbane’s superstars dismantled the top-of-the-table Canterbury side.
Haas ran for 230 metres from 28 carries that produced six tackle busts, five offloads, a linebreak assist and try assist. He also made 26 tackles without a miss.
Reynolds was equally impressive as Brisbane ran out to a 34-0 halftime lead and the skipper finished with three try assists in the thumping 42-18 victory.
Wests Tigers star recruit Terrell May also surged up the leaderboard and into second place with an epic performance in their golden point win over the Sharks.
May played 84 minutes and ran for 203 metres from 29 carries that produced eight offloads and five tackle busts. He made 36 tackles and missed just one.
Cronulla fullback Will Kennedy was on the losing side but still polled three votes to stay on top of the leaderboard after eight rounds.
Kennedy ran for 202 metres from 13 carries that produced a try, eight tackle busts, an offload and a linebreak.
Eli Katoa (Storm), Haumole Olakau’atu (Sea Eagles) and Luke Metcalf (Warriors) were the only players in the Anzac Round to poll the maximum six votes.
The Dally M votes are anonymously lodged by two independent judges for each NRL game, and determined by a 3-2-1 system.
All the votes from each round can be found on the NRL website before the leaderboard goes behind closed doors after Round 12.
