‘Adam Reynolds has set a new benchmark for NRL kickers’: Reynolds Broncos extension talks details in big Maguire insane revelation….

Adam Reynolds’ contract negotiations with the Broncos are reportedly set to begin, with Michael Maguire declaring he is desperate to retain his veteran halfback.

That is according to Code Sports, who are reporting Reynolds’ management will sit down with Brisbane bosses in the coming weeks, hoping to negotiate a contract for the 2026 season.

The revelation Reynolds wanted to play on next season sparked fears the Broncos could lose one of the NRL’s best playmakers due to a salary cap squeeze in Red Hill.

Brisbane hadn’t budgeted for Reynolds’ salary but they’re reportedly willing to offload other off-contract stars in a bid to retain their No.7.

“I would love to see ‘Reyno’ go on,” Maguire said.

“I don’t see any reason why he can’t keep going on next season and I’m confident we will find a way to keep him.

“Everyone has salary-cap challenges but we have to be diligent to look at the space we’re in (with their roster).

“I get that finances play a part but it’s also what the team means and what we achieve together. That’s the job of everyone here, to build the environment and Reyno is a huge part of that.

“Culture is a big part of every NRL club and Reyno is a crucial part of this organisation.”

Reynolds was handed a 12 month extension last year and many believed that deal would be his last in the NRL before he transitioned into a coaching role.

However, the 34-year-old has been in scintillating form this season, with his best performance coming against the Bulldogs, inspiring his side to a win over the previously unbeaten outfit.

Speaking to Fox League, Reynolds’ manager Steve Gillis rubbished the idea Reynolds injuries could impact any potential deal.

“It’s rubbish (that he’s injury prone),” he said.

“I don’t know why that perception is out there. Adam is going to hit 300 games this year, so he’s done all right for a bloke that’s apparently injury prone.

“Can he play another 40 games? I’d say comfortably.”

However, it remains to be seen how the NRL should value Reynolds on the salary cap, with reports it could be as low as $300,000.

The halfback is reportedly earning $550,000 per-season and he may have to be willing to take a lower salary to remain at the club.

Elsewhere, Maguire also echoed the opinion of Reynolds’ manager, explaining “it blows me away how tough Reyno is”.

“Reyno is very durable. I have no concerns about his body holding up (next season).

“He is playing good footy and he has a real smile on his face. It’s nice to see.

“There have been some tough times for Reyno and times when he’s had some challenges, but he’s able to play some good footy at the moment off the back of his teammates working hard for him.”
