The veteran pulled up lame while chasing a kick late in Friday’s clash with South Sydney and promptly hobbled from the field. The hamstring was quickly wrapped with ice and Hunt was sent for scans.
Speaking on Fox League on Saturday, Broncos skipper Adam Reynolds confirmed that Hunt was looking at 4-6 weeks out, paving the way for Ezra Mam to make his return to the NRL in Round 11 should coach Michael Maguire choose to go that way.
Maroons coach Billy Slater names his Queensland team for Game One of the Origin series at the end of Round 11 so Hunt will miss that match and will be racing the clock to get back for Game Two.
Bulldogs back-rower Jaeman Salmon could miss up to 10 weeks after suffering a fractured ankle in Saturday’s win over the Raiders.
Salmon limped from the field late in the match and was placed in a moon boot, with scans later revealing the extent of the damage.
The Raiders also had an injury concern with Englishman Matty Nicholson forced off in the final minute with an ankle injury.
“His weight-bearing isn’t good,” coach Ricky Stuart said post-match. “We just hope it’s not a bad syndesmosis, hopefully not out for too long.”

Wests Tigers lost forward Fonua Pole midway through the first of their match against the Storm.
“He had a lingering meniscus injury. I’m not sure to be honest, he could be back next week,” coach Benji Marshall said after the game. “We’ll have to get scans.”
Dragons prop Toby Couchman suffered a first half shoulder injury in Saturday night’s 15-14 loss to the Warriors, who also lost forward Jackson Ford with a head knock in the first tackle of the second half.
Newcastle lost Greg Marzhew in the final 10 minutes of the loss to the Titans, the winger succumbing to a knee injury.
Cowboys prop Jason Taumalolo was ruled out of the Round 10 clash against the Panthers with a calf injury.
Titans forward David Fifita will undergo surgery on his troublesome ankle and is set to spend a month on the sidelines.
Titans coach Des Hasler said on Wednesday that the star back-rower was set for keyhole surgery and would miss 3-4 weeks.
Warriors flyer Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has overcome a fractured wrist and lined up for his first NRL game of the season on Saturday in Wollongong.
In bad news for the Warriors, winger Edward Kosi (chest) and centres Ali Leiataua (ankle) and Rocco Berry (hamstring) are facing stints on the sideline.
Leiataua picked up the injury at training in the lead-up to Magic Round and won’t return until Round 13 or 14 while Berry is scheduled to return in Round 14-15.
Canberra forward Corey Horsburgh missed the top of the table clash against the Bulldogs due to concussion.
Horsburgh left the field for a HIA inside the last 15 minutes at Magic Round and was initially named to play when the Raiders side was released on Tuesday.
He is expected back in Round 11.
Positive news for the Eels and also the Blues Origin side with winger Zac Lomax targeting a return in Round 11 against the Knights.
Lomax has been sidelined since Round 5 with a foot injury but has been running on an anti-gravity treadmill and started on-field running last week.
New Blues coach Laurie Daley will pick his side for Origin One at the conclusion of Round 11 so Lomax will have one game to press his claims.
Lomax’s teammate Sam Tuivaiti suffered syndesmosis injury against the Sharks and will undergo surgery this week. He will be sidelined for 8-10 weeks.
Rabbitohs hooker Peter Mamouzelos suffered a dislocated elbow in the closing minutes of the loss to Newcastle. The elbow was put back in place following the game and his arm was placed in a cast, which has now been removed.
Mamouzelos will have an MRI scan later this week to determine the extent of the damage to his elbow and a potential return date.
Meanwhile, Alex Johnston is looking at a Round 11 return from a hamstring injury.
At the Storm, hooker Harry Grant is closing in on a return in Round 11 from a hamstring injury but winger Will Warbrick hasn’t played since Round 4 and continues to battle the effects of a complex concussion.
“Will is recovering slowly, and like all concussions, he will take his time and tread carefully,” said Storm football manager Frank Ponissi.
We certainly won’t push Will and when he’s ready he’ll start training more and we’ll have a better understanding of his return date.”
