The Philadelphia Eagles could be in the market for a receiver, as the team doesn’t have an established No.3 wide receiver to pair with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Jahan Dotson has promise, but he still has a lot to prove heading into his second season with the team.
One player the Eagles could look to target to bolster the receiver room is Tyler Boyd, who ESPN’s Aaron Schatz believes would be a solid backup plan if Dotson doesn’t take a step forward in 2025.
“Boyd was an important part of the Bengals’ offense from 2016 to 2023. Jahan Dotson feels like he’s in a better position to be productive in his second season in the Eagles’ offense, but Boyd would provide a strong backup in case he is not,” Schatz wrote.
Though he struggled last year with the Titans, Boyd could still provide some value to a contender. During his eight-year tenure with the Cincinnati Bengals, the 30-year-old established himself as one of the better slot receivers in football and posted four seasons with over 800 receiving yards, including two 1,000-yard campaigns.
Boyd would be a fantastic signing by the Eagles, as the veteran playmaker could serve as a nice security blanket for quarterback Jalen Hurts and provide adequate depth in the position group.
Additionally, Boyd should be cheap to sign. Spotrac projects the Pittsburgh product will land a one-year deal worth around $2.2 million.
Philadelphia still has $30.7 million in cap space, per Over the Cap, so general manager Howie Roseman should use some of that money to sign Boyd and add another potential impact playmaker to Nick Sirianni’s offense.
