76ers News: Nuggets Forward Makes Bold Claim About Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic

On Tuesday night, one of the biggest stories in the NBA was the battle of MVP big men. For the first time this season, Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers were squaring off against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. In what ended up being a game that went down to the wire, both big men had dominant performances. On one side, Jokic notched 25 points, 19 rebounds, and three assists.

For the Sixers, Embiid nearly finished with a triple-double. In 38 minutes of action, he recorded 41 points, seven rebounds, and 10 assists. Led by Embiid’s all-around showing, the Sixers were able to take down the defending champs by a final score of 126-121. After the game, one of Denver’s key players had a bold take on the two superstar centers.

When asked about Embiid and Jokic matching up against one another, Michael Porter Jr. stated they are arguably the top two players of this era. “I mean those are probably the two best players of our generation so as a fan it’s cool but not as a competitor, it’s just another game we’re trying to go win, but obviously, people make a big deal they were the last two MVP’s so it’s cool to see them match up,” He said.

As the last three winners of the MVP award, Jokic and Embiid have solidified themselves as the top stars of this time. On top of that, both continue to compete at an elite level. Embiid is on pace to lead the league in scoring for a third straight season, while Jokic has a chance to average a triple-double for the season.

It won’t be long before Embiid and Jokic are on the floor battling again. Later this month, the Sixers are scheduled to travel to Denver for the second and final game of the season series.
