French Open women’s tennis star Alize Cornet has told Rafael Nadal that she ‘dreamt about him all night’ – despite the Spanish veteran being married.
Nadal, 37, crashed out of the French Open on Monday with a first-round defeat to controversial fourth-seed Alexander Zverev in the men’s singles.
Cornet, 34, also lost her opening match at Roland-Garros as the Frenchwoman was eliminated by seventh-seed Qinwen Zheng on court Philippe-Chatrier.
Nadal has been married to his wife Xisca Perello since October 2019 – who is one year older than Cornet – and the pair had their first child in October 2022.
But Cornet could not resist gushing over Nadal in a press conference on Tuesday as she revealed details of her dream, without going into anything too saucy.
‘I slept well,’ Cornet said. ‘I have to say I dreamt of Rafa all night long (smiling).
‘I dreamt that he would suggest me to have a three-setter in Strasbourg to play a match with me, and then I would be with his family, we would win, we would celebrate.
‘So I woke up this morning, and I thought, ‘Oh, well, I’m saying everything this morning!’
Tennis fans have teased Cornet for her comments and have suggested that she has a crush on the legendary player – who is soon set to retire from the sport – despite the fact that she is believed to have her coach Pierre Arfi as a boyfriend.
‘Something tells me she’s leaving some important details out from this dream,’ @Botactivated999 posted on X.
Love is certainly in the air at the French Open with tennis stars Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa recently confirming that they had rekindled their romance.
Meanwhile, World No.2 Jannik Sinner confirmed on Monday that he is now in a relationship with Russian player Anna Kalinskaya.
British No.1 Katie Boulter, who was eliminated from the French Open on Tuesday, is dating world No.11 Alex de Minaur.
