Cardinals Veteran blow hot ‘We Don’t Get The Respect That We Deserve’
Based on current assessments, the Arizona Cardinals don’t seem to rank among the top teams in the league, at least based on their current roster and performance outlook.
In recent years, they have seen the departure of key veterans such as Larry Fitzgerald, DeAndre Hopkins, J.J. Watt, Zach Ertz, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, Rondale Moore, and several others.
After consecutive seasons with only four wins each, they aren’t highly regarded beyond their own organization. However, tight end Trey McBride and his team might embrace this underdog status.
“We feel like we don’t get the respect we deserve, but flying under the radar is okay because nobody expects much from us,” McBride recently shared on NFL Network’s The Insiders.
Arizona finished 4-13 last year partly due to the absence of their Pro Bowl quarterback, Kyler Murray, who missed about half of the season recovering from a torn ACL suffered the previous year.
The team struggled early, starting 1-8 without Murray, but improved to 3-5 after his return, ending the season with a 4-13 record.
While the record wasn’t favorable, having Murray back on the field makes anything possible for this team.
They’re competing in a challenging division alongside the 49ers, Rams, and Seahawks, all of whom have recently either won or reached the Super Bowl. Arizona faces an uphill battle to return to contention.
However, with Murray now healthy and the additions of first-round rookies such as wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and defensive lineman Darius Robinson, the team has a chance to exceed expectations and surprise observers.
