Gary Morse, the top right-handed pitcher in California, committed to Tennessee baseball on Saturday.
The 6-foot-8 pitcher from Orange Lutheran High School is the No. 84 prospect in the 2026 class, according to Perfect Game. He is the No. 15 prospect in California and the No. 1 right-handed pitcher.
Morse picked the Vols and coach Tony Vitello over Texas A&M, Vanderbilt and Oregon among others. He visited Tennessee in mid-October when Vols football beat Alabama.
Tennessee’s 2025 class features a handful of the nation’s top prospects, including three of the highest-ranked players for the 2025 MLB Draft.
Left-handed pitcher Kruz Schoolcraft is the No. 4 high school prospect in the draft class. The 6-8 Schoolcraft committed to UT over LSU and other SEC programs on Dec. 20. Cameron Appenzeller, a 6-5 left-handed pitcher from Illinois, committed on Nov. 4. Billy Carlson, an elite shortstop from California, committed on Oct. 25 when he flipped his commitment from Vanderbilt.
Tennessee won the baseball program’s first national title in June. It became the first team in SEC history to win 60 games when it topped Texas A&M in the three-game College World Series finals. The Vols also won the SEC regular-season title and the SEC Tournament title, sweeping the crowns for the second time in three seasons
