INSANE Revelation: ‘Really important’ detail missing from Mitchell Moses’ fresh new Parramatta deal….

Mitchell Moses has become the highest-paid player in the NRL, having signed a five-year, $1.3m-a-season deal to stay at the Parramatta Eels for the rest of his career.

The deal will keep the 30-year-old in Blue and Gold until the end of 2029, and crucially comes without any player clauses.

The deal could be enough to keep his halves partner Dylan Brown at the club, his future clouded by uncertainty surrounding player clauses in his own deal.

Moses was already signed until the end of 2029, but had a player deal that meant he could’ve left the club at the end of 2026.

Speaking to The Sydney Morning Herald, Eels chief executive Jim Sarantinos said it was “really important” for there to be no player clauses in the new deal.

“We’ve made some key changes to the club and one of those key changes is Mitch being captain,” he said.

“This is him showing faith in the direction the club is going and we couldn’t be happier.”

Coach Jason Ryles appointed Moses captain for this season, following the departure of Clint Gutherson to the Dragons. Sarantinos said that decision was made well into the negotiation process, and wasn’t used as a bargaining chip.

But it was an indication of his confidence in Ryles.

“I’m sure he wouldn’t have recommitted for this time without having confidence in the coach,” he said.

“It’s great for everyone. This has been going on for a while, and it’s great to have Mitch as part of the club long-term.

“We’ve always wanted Mitch to be here long term, and he’s always wanted to be here long term. It’s great to be able to get it done discreetly, get it locked away, and we can move forward.”

Eels football boss Mark O’Neill said Moses, who will be 35 at the end of the deal, was committing the rest of his career to the club.

“Mitch has been in consistently good form for many years now but none better than 2024,” he said in a statement.

“The way he performed in Origin last year was outstanding and proved that he belongs in that arena.

“Being recently appointed captain continues the evolution of his development and is a very proud moment for him, his family and our club.

“Having a player of Mitch’s calibre commit the rest of his career to the Eels is fantastic news for his teammates, our partners, members and the entire Eels community.”

Moses famously moved to the Eels mid-way through the 2017 season from the Tigers, and has had a mortgage on the Eels No.7 jersey since.

In 158 appearances in Blue and Gold, he’s scored 46 tries and kicked at just under 77 per cent.
