In this story:

The roster moves have begun with over two weeks left before the Los Angeles Dodgers play in Japan. They optioned or reassigned pitchers and outfielders as they begin trimming down the roster.

Nick Frasso, a right-handed pitcher who pitched just two innings in Spring Training, was optioned. The other seven players the Dodgers made decisions on were sent to Minor League Camp.

Carlos Duran, Julian Fernandez, and Justin Jarvis were the pitchers the Dodgers reassigned. Outfielders Ryan Ward, Justin Dean, Zyhir Hope, and Josue De Paula were also sent to Minor League Camp.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts (30) looks on during a Spring Training workout at Camelback Ranch.

The pitchers’ Spring training stats went a combined 1-2. Duran threw two innings, allowing a 4.50 ERA, and went 1-0. Fernandez had a 27 ERA in two and a third innings, and Jarvis in four innings had an 11.25 ERA; both went 0-1.

Ward, in 16 at-bats, had a .016 batting average and a .230 OPS. Dean had three hits and three runs and finished his Spring Training with an .864 OPS.

De Paula, in his nine Spring Training at bats, had a 1.171 OPS, with three RBI’s. Despite the small sample size, the 19-year-old had an impressive Spring Training.

One of the most hyped prospects in the Dodgers farm system, Hope hit a home run in Spring Training. He finished with a .671 OPS and left many Dodgers fans with a lot of hope for the future.

The Dodgers open the 2025 MLB season in Japan against the Chicago Cubs on March 15th. By then, the Dodgers will have to make more roster moves as they trim the roster down to 26 players.

San Diego Padres Star Sends Warning to Los Angeles Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres have formed a rivalry in recent years.

It’s always been a thing with both teams in California, but over the past few years, there have been some competitive games between the two sides.

San Diego Padres Star Sends Warning to Los Angeles Dodgers

On paper, the Dodgers are the far better team, but the Padres have some talent, and if things don’t break Los Angeles’ way, there’s a chance San Diego could win a series against them.

And Padres superstar Manny Machado is ready for that to happen. He spoke with reporters, highlighting how talented the Dodgers are, but also noted that he’s excited to beat them.

“Our division now is by far the best division in baseball,” Machado said, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. “Hands down. We’ve got four teams who could make the playoffs.

“The Dodgers are [expletive] good, man. But we’re excited to take them down. There’s nothing better than having a championship team in your division that you can knock off.”

Dodgers fans have been on Machado’s case over the past few years. He typically has plenty to say about the organization, but that’s simply a part of the rivalry.

Right now, the Dodgers are at the top of the world after winning a World Series. Every team, including the Padres, will do whatever they can to knock them off the throne.
