The official trailer for “The Clubhouse: A Year with the Red Sox” is here.
There have been a couple of sneak peeks thus far of the eight-part docuseries about the 2024 Boston Red Sox. But on Wednesday, the series’ first full trailer was released.
“The Clubhouse: A Year with the Red Sox” provides unprecedented access to one of MLB’s most historic franchises and intimately captures the successes and struggles that Red Sox players, coaches and executives experienced in and away from Fenway Park.
The trailer contains shots of unbridled joy and intense frustration. It takes us into the players’ homes and personal lives. It also hints at a behind-the-scenes look at how Boston’s front office navigated last season’s Trade Deadline.
MLB Network contributor and massive Red Sox fan Jared Carrabis saw the trailer for the first time while as a guest during Wednesday’s edition of Hot Stove on MLB Network. He told co-hosts Matt Vasgersian and Harold Reynolds that he is “absolutely geared up” to watch the series.
“If it weren’t my team, I would still be fascinated to see how the inner workings of a Major League franchise work, from the front-office perspective to the guys in the Minors to the guys that are playing in the lineup every single day,” Carrabis said. “… I’m fascinated to see how does this thing work. The behind-the-scenes that we’ve never gotten to see before, we’re now getting to see for the first time.”
Directed by four-time Emmy-winning filmmaker Greg Whiteley (“Last Chance U” & “Cheer”) and produced by One Potato Productions, Boardwalk Pictures Inc. and MLB Studios, “The Clubhouse: A Year with the Red Sox” premieres April 8 on Netflix.
“Baseball is an individual sport masquerading as a team sport,” Whiteley said. “Each game is filled with cinematic one-on-one battles: pitcher versus hitter; catcher versus base stealer; or manager versus manager. Yet the most intense battles we witnessed occurred inside a player’s mind.”
