Shohei Ohtani has opened the 2025 Major League Baseball season on a torrid pace. After posting the first 50-50 season (54 home runs and 59 stolen bases) in MLB history in 2024, Ohtani continues to show the world his incredible offensive abilities are no fluke.
On Wednesday night, the reigning National League MVP, hit a leadoff blast in the bottom of the first inning for his sixth home run of the season against the visiting Colorado Rockies.
In game No. 20 of the season, Ohtani is now on pace to hit 48 home runs and steal 40 bases.
In a healthy Los Angeles Dodgers lineup, shortstop, Mookie Betts bats second, behind Ohtani. With firepower all over the Dodgers lineup, opposing defenses and pitchers need to have their heads on a swivel.
Well on Wednesday, during Betts’ at-bat immediately following Ohtani’s home run, it was Ohtani who needed to have his head on a swivel.
Betts sent a rocket, line-drive into the Dodgers dugout. Luckily for Ohtani and the Dodgers, their MVP has quick reflexes. Ohtani was able to duck and cover, avoiding major injury in the process.
