Walsh causes injury scare
Reece Walsh will be racing the clock for State of Origin selection after the Broncos confirmed the fullback is set for a stint on the sidelines with a knee injury.
The 22-year-old appeared to have suffered the injury in the second minute of his team’s two-point defeat to the Warriors on Saturday.
The fullback was then seen limping around the field before calling for trainers, but he managed to push through the remaining 81 minutes of the match with little trouble.
However, the Broncos have since confirmed Walsh will be out of action for up to six weeks as he undergoes treatment for a PCL injury.
Reece Walsh is set to be out for up to six weeks after suffering a serious knee injury in Brisbane’s 20-18 golden point loss to the Warriors.
Walsh, 22, is yet to have a scan but the Broncos confirmed the posterior cruciate ligament injury in a statement on Sunday morning and said he would miss 4-6 weeks of action.
That length of lay-off would also likely rule him out of Queensland‘s side for the State of Origin series opener on May 28.

The club confirmed a timeline for Walsh’s exact return will be gathered after he undergoes further scans and testing on Tuesday.
The initial timeframe is a bitter blow for Walsh, who is the incumbent Maroons fullback and was already locked in a battle with Kalyn Ponga to earn the No.1 jumper.
In previous series, Queensland coach Billy Slater has held a firm stance on selecting players who are able to enter camp and train for the full week.
Slater’s team was also dealt another brutal blow in Harry Grant as the 27-year-old is set for a stint on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Melbourne coach Craig Bellamy confirmed that Grant had suffered the injury during the club’s final training session on Thursday before facing the Dolphins.
The club confirmed the hooker will not be eligible for selection for the next two weeks, with further examination set to determine his recovery journey following that.
The series will kick off on May 28 at Suncorp Stadium.
