76ers News: JJ Redick Talks Sixers Trade Deadline Plans revealing Shocking Move

76ers News: JJ Redick Shares Thoughts on Philly’s Trade Deadline Plans Details Surprising, Last-second “big three” Deals

Former Sixer feels team has good “big three” and should aim for a smaller move.

While a handful of names have already come off the board, the Philadelphia 76ers still have options when it comes to upgrades before the deadline. One former player recently gave his thoughts on what he feels Daryl Morey should do before February 8th.

On an episode of The Old Man and the Three, JJ Redick got to talking about his former team. He gave a special shout-out to Tobias Harris, who he feels is a good third option on a contending team.

With the emergence of Tyrese Maxey, Redick feels the Sixers have the star talent to compete this season. Because of this, he doesn’t want to see the team cash in their chips for a star-level player. Instead, he’d like to see a smaller move to improve in the margins. The player Redick brought up was Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso.

“Tobias Harris, my guy, just balling out this year. The perfect third option. I’ll say it, I’ll keep saying this through the deadline, they don’t need another star,” Redick said. “Maxey is a star, Joel is a star, Tobias is a great third option…Give me Caruso.”

Following a minor cold spell earlier in the year, Harris has gotten back to the level of production we are accustomed to seeing. Through 41 games, he is averaging 17.7 PPG, 6.0 RPG, and 3.2 APG.

Aside from his three-point percentage dipping, the veteran forward is having one of the most efficient shooting seasons of his career. Harris is currently shooting 50.9% from the field and 90.2% from the free-throw line. His 3P% is just under league average at 35.9% on close to four attempts per game.

Harris’ ability to thrive playing off Embiid and Maxey backs up Redick’s point of being a good third option. He doesn’t command the ball much and is shooting well when shots come his way.

Given that teams rarely go on a deep run after a big deadline move, the Sixers might be better off to go this route. Bringing up someone like Caruso raises their ceiling without having to make any drastic changes to the lineup.
