Sean Mannion has retired as a NFL player and has accepted a coaching position with the Green Bay Packers.
The former Oregon State star quarterback reportedly retired effectively immediately and has accepted a position with the Packers’ staff as an assistant coach working with the quarterbacks and passing game, according to ESPN’s Brady Henderson.
Mannion’s actual title is unknown, but he’ll work with starter Jordan Love, who posted a breakout season while leading the Packers to the playoffs during the 2023 season.
Mannion has a connection with Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur, he was a backup quarterback with the Los Angeles Rams when LaFleur was the offensive coordinator during the 2017 season.
Mannion, 31, was a third-round pick (No. 89) by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2015 NFL draft. Mannion appeared in 14 games in his career with three starts. His most recent start came in 2021 for the Vikings.
Mannion played for the Rams, Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks during his nine-year career.

Green Bay Packers Trade Voted One Of The Worst In The NFL
Last April, a trade involving MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers was made between the Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets. While Jets fans were thrilled about the trade, Packers fans were excited for the youth movement. Unfortunately, Jets fans were unable to see Rodgers play this season due to a devastating Achilles injury, which kept him out for the entire season. As the NFL season comes to a close, fans reflect on the year and notice the mistakes teams made throughout the season that seemed laughable in hindsight.
Green Bay Packers And New York Jets Trade Voted Worst In The League
Many NFL fans have been analyzing all the recent trades, free agent signings, and players that were cut from teams. Some fans have expressed their opinion that the Aaron Rodgers trade was the worst move in the league. However, other fans disagree with this view and believe that many other moves were far worse than this one.
It’s challenging to evaluate a trade and players based on just four snaps. The trade was disappointing for Jets fans, and the Packers missed out on a potential first-round draft pick, but it is not a fair assessment. The voting by so-called NFL fans is rather amusing.
