Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is a triple-double machine, and with his latest, he passed one of the greatest to ever accomplish it.

Jokic had 35 points, 14 rebounds, and 12 assists in the Nuggets’ 134-116 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. That performance gave him his 108th triple-double of his career, passing LeBron James. More amazingly, James needed 1,417 games to reach 107 triple doubles. According to StatMuse, Jokic needed 604 games to reach 108 triple-doubles.

Jokic currently ranks fourth all-time in career triple-doubles, after just Russell Westbrook, Oscar Robertson, and Magic Johnson. At this rate, Jokic may soon be the NBA’s all-time leader in the metric. The Nuggets’ center is 30 triple-doubles behind Johnson. Robertson and Westbrook are slightly ahead of Jokic, with 73 and 90 triple-doubles, respectively.

Jokic is breaking records in a variety of ways, most recently recording his eighth career game with 30 points, 10 rebounds, and an 85% shooting percentage. Only Wilt Chamberlain (12) has played in more such games in NBA history.

Most essential, Jokic is guiding his team to victory. The Nuggets have shown no signs of slowing down since winning the NBA championship last season. The Nuggets are 7-1, thanks to a well-balanced roster. The squad possesses the NBA’s seventh-best offense and sixth-best defense. That type of play has the Nuggets ranked as one of the favorites to win the NBA title again this season.

But it all begins with Jokic in the center. He just keeps finding new ways to lead his team to victory while wowing NBA fans everywhere.

On Wednesday night, Jokic and the Nuggets will face Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
