The San Antonio Spurs host the Miami Heat tonight. Here’s everything you need to know.

The San Antonio Spurs are shaking off their last loss and aiming to avenge it when the Miami Heat visit the Frost Bank Center.

The Heat are on the second half of a back-to-back after losing to the Atlanta Hawks yesterday night, which could help the Spurs end a four-game losing streak. San Antonio is looking for its first home win since beating the Houston Rockets in overtime on Opening Night.

San Antonio comes into the game relatively healthy, although point guard Tre Jones has hamstring soreness. He is doubtful for tonight’s game.

Hawks versus. Heat: Three Takeaways From Atlanta’s Loss

Atlanta has dropped two of their last three games including a setback to a depleted Miami Heat squad.

On Saturday night, Atlanta was a heavy favorite against the Miami Heat, and it was a wonderful chance to win and stay at the top of the Eastern Conference. Miami was without Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, and Caleb Martin yesterday, but the Hawks had similar issues last night. A slow start, errors, and weak defense all contributed to the Heat’s victory in Atlanta.

So, what are the most important takeaways from yesterday night’s defeat? Let’s dissect them.

1. Bama Adebayo was the best player on the court last night

Even with Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro, the Miami Heat do not have a very effective offense, and it was difficult to see why they would have such an offensive night without them.

Bam Adebayo was the reason and he reminded everyone why he is one of the best players in the NBA last night.

Adebayo finished with 26 points, 17 rebounds, and four assists on offense, and in my opinion, he is the best defensive player in the NBA and he made an impact on that end as well. He controlled the tempo on offense and was efficient. Adebayo was going to have to have a huge night with Butler and Herro out and he did what he needed to do.

2. Another slow start killed the Hawks

Over the final three quarters, Atlanta outscored Miami by nine points. The problem was the 1st quarter (again). Miami scored 41 points in the quarter and shot 68% from the field and the Hawks remain the worst 1st quarter team in the NBA. They have gotten off to slow starts repeatedly this season and allow 30+ points in the first quarter often. There have been times that they have been able to overcome those slow starts, but not last night.
