AC Milan have already agreed to terms with another player at their biggest position of need
AC Milan are in the hunt for a number of upgrades this summer with Paulo Fonseca expected to replace Stefano Pioli, as RedBird want to prove that they are indeed capable of fulfilling the Scudetto ambitions that Pioli himself once achieved a couple of seasons ago under Paolo Maldini’s leadership.
The right back position appears to be Milan’s biggest position of need, based on how aggressively they are scouring the market for potential upgrades for veteran Davide Calabria.Fonseca’s bright Lille pupil Tiago Santos seems to be the favored option, and Milan have already reportedly agreed to terms with the Brazilian but are still negotiating terms with the Ligue 1 side.
Now, La Gazzetta dello Sport report that AC Milan have agreed to terms with another notable right back target in Tottenham’s Emerson Royal.Milan still have to negotiate a final transfer fee with Tottenham for Emerson, as the Rossoneri would like to pay less than the asking price Spurs have set of 20 million euros.
That’s not an unreasonable fee for Emerson, who was once a standout in LaLiga for Real Betis, but since Santos could end up being cheaper, Milan want to take their time before committing to a transfer. But with terms agreed with both Santos and Emerson, Milan have two birds in the hand, so to speak, and a chance to weigh the pros and cons of both players.
