REPORT: 4 Notable Las Vegas Raiders Offensive Coordinator Candidates, Here are three notable candidates for the Las Vegas Raiders OC position
The Las Vegas Raiders find themselves back in the market for an offensive coordinator. This comes after a stunning report revealed that Kliff Kingsbury was withdrawing from consideration for the position. Here are three candidates that the Raiders should look at now.
1. Chip Kelly
One of the biggest names to keep an eye on now will be Chip Kelly. Right now, he is the head coach of the UCLA Bruins. However, he seems to be open to making a move back towards the NFL.
Kelly has reported had multiple interviews with the Las Vegas Raiders. Plus, he was a head coach in the NFL before with the Philadelphia Eagles. Kelly is recognized as one of the top offensive minds in either the college or the pros. We will have to keep an eye on further developments here.
2. Hue Jackson
Another name to keep an eye on is Hue Jackson. For those of you who do not know, he was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns from 2016-18. However, there is one important link to keep an eye on with Jackson.
That is the link with Marvin Lewis. The former is joining the Raiders in 2024 as an assistant coach. Lewis and Jackson worked together for four years in Cincinnati. Plus, Jackson has reportedly talked to the Raiders about taking an offensive coaching position. With Kingsbury bowing out, Jackson may fill that opening.
3. Brian Johnson
It is going to be interesting to keep an eye on Brian Johnson here. He was recently fired as the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator. However, there are reports that there was drama between Johnson and Eagles QB Jalen Hurts.
What does this mean? It means that it may have merely been a personality conflict in Philadelphia. If that is the case, Johnson may be a candidate to watch here.
4. Luke Getsy
Finally, we have former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. He is considered to be a strong candidate to take the position and someone the Raiders have already talked to. So, what is the argument for Getsy?
For starters, he was the Bears’ offensive coordinator for the past two seasons. Plus, Getsy could be seen as someone who could address the Raiders’ poor rushing attack. Chicago ranked second in the NFL in rushing yards per game (141.1) compared to Las Vegas ranked 30th (90.7) this past season.
