Angel Reese may not have to worry about paying a WNBA fine despite her ejection against the New York Liberty on Tuesday night.

In the final quarter of an 88-75 loss for the Chicago Sky, Reese was initially whistled for her fifth personal foul after reaching into Liberty center Jonquel Jones following an offensive rebound.

The Sky rookie then picked up a technical foul after appearing to say something to referee Charles Watson, before she was ejected from the game on a successive tech for waving him off as she walked away.

WNBA rules state that players are fined $300 per technical for their first three in a season, meaning Reese will be docked $600 after receiving her first two of the campaign.

Ball took to X on Tuesday night to criticize the decision to eject Reese, writing: ‘Ref that threw out @Reese10Angel is weak btw… You know who you are (Keep ya money Angel I got you)’.

The WNBA youngster replied: ‘appreciate you gang!’ along with a heart and crying laughing emoji.

According to lead referee Maj Forsberg, via the Chicago Tribune, Reese was thrown out of Tuesday’s game after she ‘disrespectfully addressed’ Watson and then ‘waved off the calling official in resentment to the call’ – with each offense earning a technical.

She finished the game with 13 points and 10 rebounds in 24 minutes as the Sky fell to a fourth defeat in five outings, one of which came against former college rival Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.

Reese and Chicago teammate Chennedy Carter have come in for heavy criticism following the latter’s bodycheck on Clark over the weekend, with the pair seemingly celebrating it after the game despite their defeat on the night.
