Coach of the Atlanta Hawks reacts to Damian Lillard’s heroics for the Milwaukee Bucks
On Saturday night, Damian Lillard was too much for the Atlanta Hawks to handle. In 38 minutes of action, Dame led the Milwaukee Bucks to a 132-121 victory at the Fiserv Forum with 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting, six rebounds, nine assists, a steal, and three triples.
Lillard, of course, had a little help from Giannis Antetokounmpo, who put up another spectacular triple-double in the win.
Hawks head coach Quin Snyder conceded after the loss that Lillard gave them all sorts of trouble on the evening. Giannis, of course, was the star of the show, but Snyder admitted that it was Dame who pretty much picked the Hawks apart:
This demonstrates how vital Lillard is to the Bucks. It’s not just about buckets for the seven-time All-Star, which he is more than capable of doing at any given time, but it’s also about his ability to get his teammates involved that makes him so dangerous.
Snyder also had some praise reserved for the Bucks as a unit. The Hawks coach admitted that they were simply outplayed by their opponents, especially down the stretch.
The ballgame was tied with five and a half minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. The Bucks shifted to another gear, though, and they ended up outscoring Atlanta 18-7 to close out the game.
It was another clutch performance by Dame and the Bucks, which came at the expense of the Hawks.

Milwaukee Bucks’ Bobby Portis Sounds Off on ‘Revenge’ Win Vs. Atlanta Hawks
The Milwaukee Bucks advanced to 9-1 at home this season after defeating the Atlanta Hawks 132-121 on Saturday. The sole blemish on their otherwise perfect record at the Fiserv Forum is a 127-110 thrashing at the hands of none other than the Atlanta Hawks.
This is why the Bucks’ triumph on Saturday was even sweeter, as they avenged an early-season home loss to an Eastern Conference adversary.
Bobby Portis played a key role yet again in Milwaukee’s win over the Hawks. The veteran came out of the gates firing, scoring 13 of his 15 points in the first half of action on 6-of-8 from the field.
Portis was a spark off the bench once again, which apparently, had a lot to do with his revenge mindset entering the game:
Portis cooled down in the second half of Saturday’s hard-fought victory, finishing with 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting, to go along with 11 rebounds and one three-pointer.
The boost he provided for the second unit was exactly what Milwaukee needed, especially in the first half. For Portis, this was just another day in the office:
In 20 games played so far this season, the 6-foot-10 big man is now averaging 11.3 points on 47.4 percent shooting, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 23.9 minutes per game. Talk about making the most out of your playing time, right?
