Earlier this week, Alvaro Morata confirmed that he would be staying at Atletico Madrid for at least one more season, despite having initially opened the door on a move to Saudi Arabia. AC Milan didn’t get the memo on this, and they have now pushing to sign the 31-year-old, who has a €15m release clause.
Milan want Morata to replace the recently-departed Olivier Giroud, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic – who holds a management role at the Serie A giants – has already spoken to the Atleti striker in regards to a possible move this summer.
As of yet, Morata has not given a response to Milan or Ibrahimovic in regards to their interest, which is described as very strong. Di Marzio has reported that a decision will not be made until his involvement at Euro 2024 comes to an end.
Atletico Madrid have already been aiming to sign a new striker this summer, and Morata’s departure would make one an absolute necessity. It remains to be seen whether Milan have a chance of getting their man.
