Big Updates: San Francisco 49ers Sign former Auburn standout after suspending linebacker…See Details

Five weeks after being released for the fifth time in his NFL career, former Auburn linebacker Chandler Wooten is back in the league.

The San Francisco 49ers signed Wooten for their practice squad on Tuesday.

Wooten joins the 49ers after the team suspended linebacker De’Vondre Campbell for its remaining three regular-season games.

In San Francisco’s 12-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night, Campbell twice refused to go into the game after 49ers linebackers came off the field with injuries, and he walked to the locker room during the fourth quarter.

The game was the first of the season for Dre Greenlaw, who reclaimed his starting position from Campbell after tearing an Achilles tendon in Super Bowl LVIII in February.

Wooten played in three October games for the Carolina Panthers this season. He was on the field for 59 defensive snaps and 48 special-teams plays.

Wooten entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie with the Arizona Cardinals in 2022. The Carolina Panthers signed him off the Cardinals’ practice squad on Oct. 18, 2022, and he played in nine games, completely as a special-teamer, for the Panthers in 2022.

Wooten started the 2023 season on Carolina’s practice squad, but he still played in eight games, with 47 defensive snaps and 177 special-teams plays.

This season, Wooten had two stints on the Panthers’ practice squad plus a three-week stay on Carolina’s active roster before his release on Nov. 7.

The 49ers play the Miami Dolphins at 3:25 p.m. CST Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Each NFL team can elevate two of its practice-squad members to active status for each game.

Deebo Samuel continues to suffer as he finds himself an enemy of 49ers legend Jerry Rice

Tension continues in San Francisco with the wide receiver

Deebo Samuel Sr. San Francisco 49ers wide receiver dropping pass Los...

It’s been a nightmare season for Deebo Samuel at the San Francisco 49ers. The football player has become one of the biggest disappointments in the NFL season. For now, the wide receiver is falling short and more so with the big contract he is earning, and not only that, he seems to be lost off the field.

Last Thursday, Deebo Samuel was criticized on social media, as he was branded as the main culprit for the 49ers’ loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Deebo made a mistake and was not able to score a touchdown after falling down. The playoff chances are slowly fading away for San Francisco

Jerry Rice criticizes him mercilessly

“I don’t know what’s going on, because the weirdest thing is I think he made like three receptions for 16 yards. I would have been mad at myself, I would have been mad at the whole scenario, and I would have gone to work on the football field, in practice. And if you do it during practice, you’re going to be able to do it during the game,” was part of the former wide receiver’s complaint

“The ball you let go, after complaining that you don’t get so many touches, you can’t let go of the ball. Because everyone is going to turn against you and they’re going to go after you. I never said anything about not getting touches or anything like that. I just worked. I kept working,” he told 95.7 The Game.

San Francisco 49ers fans lose patience

Deebo Samuel earned the disdain of fans when the 49ers beat the Chicago Bears. The footballer went to his X account and posted: “I’m not struggling at all, just not getting the ball!!!!!”. The tweet was quickly deleted, but on social media they acted quickly and did not forgive him

In fact, some reporters asked him about the post he deleted and he just chose to evade the issue
