Billy Donovan shares the most recent Update on Nikola Vucevic’s Groin Injury
On Tuesday night, before their matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers, Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan aired a pair of good and bad news. First, for the positive, Donovan declared that Zach LaVine’s ongoing workout has been nothing but promising, and the star guard could see himself wearing a Bulls uniform again as soon as Friday when they face the Charlotte Hornets at home.
Unfortunately, the negative one revolves around Nikola Vucevic’s current healing progress from his strained left groin.
Vooch is out indefinitely
While Zach is poised and on track to make his soon return to Chicago after being unavailable for over a month due to foot issues, it is opposite at the other hand for Vooch.
According to coach Donovan, Vucevic now has no clear timetable for return and won’t be able to participate in the team’s practices for this entire week.
What does this mean for the Bulls?
This is pretty concerning that the Bulls have posted a 7-10 days timetable for Vooch’s inactivity since Dec. 26. In addition, coach Donovan also didn’t provide any significant reason why the star center’s return plans became even blurry.
With Vucevic out indefinitely, it only means that the Bulls will continue to lean on Andre Drummond as their starting center. So far, Andre has been solid and productive on the step-ups that he made in place for Vooch, averaging 14.3 points and an astounding 20.3 rebounds for 29.4 minutes of play in the last four games.
While Vooch’s extended absence painfully stings, and his 16.7 points and 10.4 boards averages will continue to be sorely missed, the Bulls can at least be thankful that Zach is on his way now to help.
