On his way to a very effective night, Derrick White garnered MVP chants at the free-throw line. The Boston Celtics’ guard had 30 points on 10-16 shooting and 6-10 from three, as well as two blocks, two steals, and three assists, to lead the team to a 133-123 victory over the New York Knicks at home. Kristaps Porzingis’ 21 points in his return energized the C’s, who started 7-7 from the field.

They also made an effort to get Jrue Holiday going offensively, putting him in the post and getting him free for several jumpers, giving him 16 points. Al Horford had a fantastic double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, as well as three triples.

White has been acknowledging the abundance of love he has been receiving from the Celtics’ fans the last year here in his second season. His improvements on both sides, the way he makes the right play every time, and his Game 6 game-winner in Miami last May made it easy to propel him as a fan favorite instantly.

Jared Weiss of The Athletic asked the Celtics’ guard about his underrated journey leading to MVP chants for this organization. “I mean, it’s crazy, we got the best fans in the league, so, I’m most thankful and grateful for them,” White said before he continued with some chuckles. “I mean, I know I’m not the MVP, but it’s always cool here.”

White has become nothing short of a stellar Celtic in his first two full seasons in Boston, excelling his game on both ends, especially when the stakes are at their highest in the playoffs and beyond. He has continued to evolve his game, having career-best numbers and efficiency on the season as a connecter for the team on both sides of the ball on every level. Jaylen Brown Attacks Referee For Overly Emotional Call That Led To His Ejection

Jaylen Brown experienced an unexpected early exit during Friday night’s Boston Celtics victory over the New York Knicks, marking the first ejection in his eight-year NBA career. The incident unfolded in the fourth quarter when Brown received a personal foul on New York’s Immanuel Quickley. Protesting the call, he earned a technical foul, reaching his fifth foul of the game. Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla wisely benched Brown, but the situation escalated as he continued expressing his discontent.

Despite potential fines, Brown, visibly heated afterward, expressed his disappointment. Reflecting on the ejection, he wished it had been more “exciting” and unconventional, such as a physical altercation. Brown emphasized his frustration with what he perceived as an “over-emotional ref who had a bad day” and lamented not getting his “money’s worth.”

Mazzulla, addressing the ejection, hinted that Brown’s use of expletives might have been a contributing factor. However, Brown clarified that his emotions were not disrespectful or derogatory towards the referee and criticized the referee’s decision to issue a tech from across the court.

In terms of performance, Brown contributed 17 points and four assists before his ejection. This incident marked the Celtics’ second major ejection within a week, following Jayson Tatum’s ejection in the previous game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Brown’s ejection also added two technical fouls to his career total, bringing it to 24.
