Garnett knows a thing or two about winning in a smaller market.

Minnesota is flyover country? Can’t win the big one in a small or medium market?

That might be true until the likes of the Timberwolves, Wild and Vikings prove otherwise, but if you ask Timberwolves legend Kevin Garnett about playing in a smaller market, he’ll provide some friendly advice just as he did in a chat with Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton.

“In my travels, I’m used to coming where it’s not a lot of ‘rah!’ It’s not New York, it’s not Atlanta, it’s not none of the that,” Garnett told Haliburton on KG Certified. “So, when I got to Minnesota it felt similar. Like, there’s not a lot of expectations [in Minnesota]. So, as I started getting better, I didn’t know that people wanted to play with people that care, have passion.”

Haliburton asked the Wolves icon what his blueprint was for creating a contender in a small market.

“Giannis plays in Milwaukee,” Garnett continued. “They won that ring. It’s about what teams want to play with what players and can that team be that team. That’s what it really came down to. The fact that you are in a small market doesn’t mean anything.”

For their part this season, the Wolves have been electric with a league-best 17-5 record, including wins against several preseason title favorites like the Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets.

Thunder: Patrick Beverley’s chilling 3-word take recent Josh Giddey allegations

The Oklahoma City Thunder have gotten off to a great start in the 2023-24 NBA season. The Thunder are second in the Western Conference rankings with a 15-7 record. OKC player Josh Giddey has been in the spotlight after charges of off-the-court misconduct surfaced. Sixers veteran Patrick Beverley spoke out on his podcast about Giddey’s alleged conduct.

Beverley has a conversation with a guest on his podcast about Josh Giddey’s rumored relationship with a minor. Beverly was asked if he felt like people were treating Giddey’s situation with too much ease. This was his cold, three-word take:

“I got daughters,” Beverley said via the Pat Bev Pod.

A query on how Ja Morant and Kyrie Irving’s social media gaffes were handled inspired Beverley’s remark. The complete video is available below:

At first sight, it seems Patrick Beverley indicates that Giddey’s allegations are serious, considering the Thunder guard’s situation can relate to the Sixers veteran’s daughters. However, his simple response leaves more to be desired.

Could players, analysts, and fans be taking the rumors of Giddey’s minored relationship too easy? While such a matter is gravely serious, it is important to remember that the OKC star has not been proven guilty yet. Thus, some people will be less likely to go all-out on criticizing him.

Josh Giddey has been booed by fans in multiple games and has been targeted on the court as well. Yet, team’s treatment of him (leaving him open on the three-point line) is mostly due to his poor three-point shooting (32.1%).

Regardless of the public feelings on Giddey’s matter, a thorough investigation still has to be conducted. In the meantime, the Thunder guard will continue to help OKC climb the Western Conference any way he can.
