Dwyane Wade Injury: Updates on Heat Star’s Shoulder and Return
Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat was out on Friday due to shoulder issues. He is, nevertheless, prepared to return.
Staying healthy has been a challenge for D-Wade over the last few years and throughout his career. He has never played in more than 79 games in a single season, and he hasn’t appeared in more than 70 games since 2010-11.
He has mainly avoided injuries this season, appearing in 38 of the Heat’s 39 games as of Friday, and he has averaged 18.4 points, 4.6 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game.
The three-time NBA champion missed 20 games in 2014-15, primarily due to knee and hamstring injuries.
With lingering ailments restricting his ability to string games together, Wade revealed to NBA.com that last season was challenging for him.
The Heat did not make the playoffs because big player Chris Bosh was out for the season due to blood clots. This raised the pressure on D-Wade to produce, but it also increased his chances of injury.
Miami made significant offseason moves to position itself as an Eastern Conference contender, re-signing Goran Dragic, signing Gerald Green and Amar’e Stoudemire, and drafting Justise Winslow.
Furthermore, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver heeded Wade’s counsel and reduced the number of back-to-back games for the 2015-16 season, according to Winderman:
Despite the more reasonable schedule, Wade can’t seem to shake the injury bug, which is maybe his one flaw.
While Wade has been a star since his debut in 2003, there has been increased pressure on him to succeed in the two seasons since LeBron James returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Last season, he was up to the task, averaging 21.5 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game; however, that output won’t help the Heat if he can’t stay on the floor.
