Brighton’s allegations about a ‘difficult’ player were refuted, and the club’s new fans were won over.
Claims that Antef Tsoungui was a troublesome player at Brighton were “nonsense,” and the player is proving it at Feyenoord.
That’s according to Kein Geloel, a Feyenoord podcast, as related by Voetbal Zone, who has been complimenting the player today.
Tsoungui departed Brighton on a free transfer earlier this year, joining the Dutch club and ending a five-year stint with the Seagulls.
He joined them in 2018 from Chelsea’s junior system, however despite Brighton’s resolve to maintain pushing youth players into the first squad, he only ever made one appearance.
Instead, he was loaned to Lommel SK in January of this year, returned from that loan in March, and was eventually released on a free transfer in July.
He is now on loan to FC Dordrecht, where he has established himself as a major player in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie with 11 games, a goal, and an assist.
That has not gone unnoticed by Feyenoord, who appear to be very pleased about the 20-year-old’s future and remain unimpressed by rumors that have accompanied him since his time at Brighton.
“Could we please stop talking about him so much? Otherwise, we’ll lose him soon!” they predicted.

The CEO of Brighton & Hove Albion has opened the door for Evan Ferguson to leave the club amid Manchester United interest.
Brighton & Hove Albion CEO Paul Barber has intimated that Evan Ferguson may depart the club in the near future, amid rumors of interest from Manchester United.
The 19-year-old has 15 goals and four assists in 43 appearances for Brighton, including 11 goals and two assists in 31 Premier League games.
Ferguson is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in England’s top flight, and a recent rumor suggested that Manchester United remained interested in the Republic of Ireland international despite signing a new contract at the Amex earlier this month.
The teenager’s contract is set to expire in June 2029, but Barber has revealed that the forward is likely to leave in the near future due to his potential.
“When we can put them into long contracts to give them security, give us security, but very importantly, with young players, also to help them keep learning,” Barber said in an interview with Soccerex TV.
“If Evan’s current trajectory continues, he’ll be playing at a higher level at some point in the future.” We want to do everything we can to prepare him for this. Give him all of our support, not just on the field, but off the field as well.
“As I previously stated, I believe that the higher level we can play at, the better our chances of retaining our top players for a longer period of time.”
“This is not to say that we will be able to keep them forever, because players will have their own ambitions in terms of the club they want to play for, the league they want to play in, and the competitions they want to compete in.” And we must be mindful of this.
“And I believe, and Tony Bloom (Brighton chairman) believes, that if we can show players clear pathways, not just through our club, but also beyond our club, that will help us attract other younger players in the future.”
“Which is good because it keeps our model moving.” It keeps our cycle going and, hopefully, keeps us successful.”
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also thought to be interested in Ferguson, who has scored five goals in 11 Premier League games this season.
The teenager began his professional career with Bohemians, although he only made four appearances for the club before moving to Brighton to join their academy.
Ferguson made his first-team debut in August 2021, and he established himself as a regular for the club last season, making 25 games and scoring 10 goals.
Brighton, who play at Nottingham Forest on Saturday, are reportedly asking for a British record transfer sum in order to sell the centre-forward.
