Positive Update: Warriors get good news about Steph Curry’s ankle injury, Expected Injury Return Timeline Revealed

There is some good news surrounding the injury status of Steph Curry.

Curry exited his Golden State Warriors’ 125-122 loss to the Chicago Bulls on Thursday due to an ankle injury suffered in the fourth quarter. Curry turned his right ankle while making a move in the paint and limped off the court to the locker room.

The good news for Golden State is that the MRI on Curry’s ankle came back clean. The Warriors star could miss a few games but he is not expected to miss much more time than that.

Thursday’s loss dropped Golden State to 33-29 for the season. The Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers are both 10.5 games behind the Timberwolves for the top seed in the West. Golden State is 9th in the conference with 20 games left in the regular season. However, both the Warriors and Lakers are 5.5 games ahead of the team in 11th — the Jazz — so even if Curry misses a few games, the Warriors still should be in good shape to at least reach the play-in tournament.

Curry is averaging 26.9 points on 44.9 percent shooting this season.

Steph Curry’s Expected Injury Return Timeline Revealed

It was reported several places on Friday afternoon that Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry had avoided serious injury after rolling his ankle against the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night.

In consecutive posts on X, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported, “(1) ESPN Sources: Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry’s MRI on his right ankle returned clean on Friday and a clearer timeline on his return will come with how ankle responds over next several days. (2) The expectation is that Curry won’t miss much time for the Warriors, sources said. Golden State is ninth in the Western Conference playoff race.”

While the Warriors have yet to announce an official injury update on Curry, all signs point to a relatively quick return. In a report from Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area, it was revealed that Curry’s timeline is expected to be similar to the 7 to 10 day range that Devin Booker is currently facing with his ankle injury.

All things considered, this is great news for the Warriors, as they should only be without Curry for a few games at most. This is a pivotal point in the season for Golden State, as they are desperately trying to climb their way up the Western Conference standings.

While escaping the play-in tournament entirely will be a tall task, Golden State would significantly benefit from even moving up two spots in the standings to avoid a win or go home situation in the play-in tournament.

With Curry expected to be sidelined for just a few games, Golden State should be able to survive his absence without any major damage being done to their position in the standings.
