Shohei Ohtani strikes again against Aaron Judge and sets another record in Major League Baseball

The previous season in Major League Baseball will be remembered after the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in five games to win the World Series. It was also the first title for the great Japanese star, Shohei Ohtani.

Freddie Freeman was named the Most Valuable Player of the series after hitting four consecutive home runs and driving in twelve runs. However, the spotlight went to Ohtani, who made history that season by becoming the first player in history to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a single season.

Now Shohei Ohtani has a new record

The three-time MLB Most Valuable Player now has the best-selling jersey in Major League Baseball, not only in the United States but also worldwide. The league announced that since the World Series ended, most of the jersey sales through the Fanatics network of websites, including MLBShop.com, have been for Shohei Ohtani.

Ohtani leads six Dodgers players in the top 20 of jersey sales. The others are Freddie Freeman in the No. 2 spot, Mookie Betts in No. 4, Yoshinobu Yamamoto in No. 10, Clayton Kershaw in No. 11, and Kiké Hernández in No. 16. Ohtani’s jersey is No. 1, with Yamamoto’s at No. 10.

The players in the top 5 jersey sales who are not from the Dodgers are Juan Soto of the New York Mets and Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees, the current AL MVP.

Ohtani could return to the mound

The Dodgers have currently paused the pitching program for the Japanese star, but this is not due to an injury. The Los Angeles staff wants Shohei to focus on his offense for now, but it is not ruled out that he could return to the mound this same year.

Ohtani has not pitched since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2023, before he was with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
