Cooks Catches another Clutch TD, Revealing an unselfish view of Stats
The Dallas Cowboys took a late lead over the Detroit Lions on Saturday night at AT&T Stadium, much like they did last week in Miami, with veteran receiver Brandin Cooks coming through with a clutch touchdown reception that appeared to be the game-winner.
However, Dallas was unable to hold on in Miami. However, Dallas held on against Detroit, allowing another Cooks touchdown to stand.
CeeDee Lamb is having the finest statistical season for a receiver in Dallas Cowboys history. He had a career-high 13 receptions for 227 yards here and was so impressive that the NFL felt compelled to order a drug test.
But, as QB Dak Prescott noted, “Honestly, if we’re talking about CeeDee I think I would be remiss if I didn’t give some credit to Brandon Cooks.” Cooks, the classy vet in his first season in Dallas, now has four TD catches in the last six weeks and seven for the season. Lamb’s numbers are at another level.
But Dak noted that, “Throughout the year, he’s really showing CeeDee how to prepare, how to get better and to not be satisfied with any point. That’s who Brandin is – “Mr. Consistent.” After surrendering their 7-3 halftime lead, as the Lions managed to score on each of their first two possessions to start the second half, quarterback Dak Prescott and Co. did not back down.
Prescott was perfect on a rather quick nine-play drive that spanned 75 yards, as he completed all five of his passes for 54 yards when he capped it off with an eight-yard touchdown strike to Cooks. Related:

Cooks, Dak said, “is consistent in his attitude each and every day, consistent in his work ethic, consistent in taking care of his body. All of that translates to him making plays on the field when the time is needed and making big-time catches.” Cooks, too his credit, said, “No, I really can’t tell you that” when asked about his stat-based contributions to the 11-5 playoff-bound Cowboys.
“I’ve always talked about trusting the process, right? I mean, your ‘numbers’ (are about) showing up for your team and making the play. That’s what it’s all about.”
