Nikola Jokic’s Honest Statement After Nuggets vs. Heat

Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic is happy to get another win

The Denver Nuggets picked up a solid win over the Miami Heat on Wednesday night, securing sole possession of the first seed in the Western Conference. Speaking with reporters after the game, Nikola Jokic said it would be great to get the first seed, but he is more focused on playing good basketball.

“It is [important], but I would like for us to just keep playing,” Jokic said. “If we are first, great. If we are not, we’re not gonna go crazy. But how we are playing is the most important thing.

Jokic was asked about the different players who can step up for the Nuggets on any given night, and said, “That means we have a great team. The people in the media say it’s just me and Jamal, but I think our team is amazing and we are really well built. Everybody is doing their job.”

This is what makes Denver so tough, because while the Jokic-Murray duo is impossible to stop, it’s even tougher to handle the Nuggets when those two are getting others involved. This could be Michael Porter Jr. knocking down clean looks, Aaron Gordon ducking inside for dunks, or even a guy like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope hitting big shots when the defense has all of their attention on Jokic and Murray.

All of this has led to Denver being atop the West, where they will look to stay

When questioned about the various individuals that the Nuggets can rely on to win on any given night, Jokic responded, “That means we have a great team.” The media claims that it’s just Jamal and me, but I think we have an incredible team and are very well-built. Everyone is doing out their duties.
