Just-in: Despite not being an All-Star starter, he continues to top the NBA in jersey sales
Stephen Curry was not voted an All-Star starter, which is mind blowing to Dub Nation. This will be his tenth All-Star game appearance (first as a reserve) and I fully expect him to go inferno and win the game’s MVP trophy like he did in 2022 when he hit an ASG record 16 threes and scored 50 points.
How could a two-time league MVP averaging 27.3 PPG on 45% shooting from the field, along with five dimes per game and 40% shooting from beyond the arc, not get enough votes from players and media in to rep the West starters?
But his popularity with the fans is still a force to be reckoned with evidently, as his jersey is still the top seller at the NBA Store for the first half of the 2023-2024 season. I guess changing the game of basketball forever really resonates with the fans?
Let’s take a quick look at where Curry has ranked over in the years in jersey sales, per Hoops Hype (never lower than #7 baby!).
He’s been doing it for a long time, folks. I guess it was inevitable that his stranglehold on the All-Star game voting could be loosening, especially as younger star talent like Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continue to blossom.
Still, it doesn’t feel right that Curry won’t be announced with the starters in Indiana in February. Looks like he’ll just have to cook ‘em off the bench.

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry will face New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu in first NBA vs. WNBA three-point challenge during All-Star Weekend
Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry and New York Liberty Guard Sabrina Ionescu will officially square off in a three-point challenge in February’s All-Star Weekend.
On Tuesday, it was confirmed that Curry and Ionescu will come up against each other in the the first NBA vs. WNBA three-point shootout during State Farm Saturday on February 17 in Indiana.
According to The Athletic, it has been established that Curry will shoot from the NBA three-point line with NBA-sized balls while Ionescu is required to shoot from and with the WNBA equivalents. However, the Oregon alum insisted on leveling the playing field by shooting from the same distance.
‘I’ll shoot from the NBA line,’ Ionescu wrote on X following the announcement. ‘LETS GET IT!!!!!!!’
The NBA line is 23 feet and nine inches long at the top of the arc while closing in on 22 feet from the basket in the corners. Meanwhile in the WNBA, the top of the arc is 22 feet and 1.75 inches from the hoop with the same corner measurements at 22 feet.
The idea was first presented when Ionescu scored 37 points in the final round of the three-point contest during the WNBA All-Star weekend in July. After the one-sided win, Ionescu challenged Curry to a shootout for all the marbles.
Although Curry had expressed interest in the showdown before, the flame was rekindled when he mentioned Ionescu while mic’d up before a game against the Sacramento Kings.
‘Do you know who holds the record for most points in a 3-point competition,’ Curry asked, before Brandin Podziemski correctly said Sabrina [Ionescu].
‘I think I got to bring her out here, like we got to settle this once and for all.’
After the NBA posted the video on X, Ionescu accepted the challenge by reposting with the caption: ”Let’s getttttt it!! See ya at the 3 pt line @StephenCurry30.’
