During the 2024 NFL Mock Draft, the Minnesota Vikings make a bold move to select a possible Kirk Cousins replacement
Most signs point to Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins hitting free agency this coming March. Unless Cousins and the Vikings agree on a new deal, he will have to find a new team to play for, beginning in the 2024 NFL season. If not Cousins, then who’s going to orchestrate the offense on the field for Minnesota?
That could be someone from the upcoming NFL Draft. The Draft Network’s Brentley Weissman has Michigan Wolverines product and national champion JJ McCarthy pegged as a first-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings, making him a potential successor to Cousins’ throne, though, Weissman also expressed some doubts on the young signal-caller.
Will The Minnesota Vikings Get A New Quarterback From The 2024 NFL Draft?
Given their current draft position, the Minnesota Vikings are not expected to score a Tier 1 quarterback prospect. By the time it’s their turn to select a pick, the likes of Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels likely would all have been taken off the board.
The Minnesota Vikings can also engineer a trade to move up the draft order or just hope for a semi-miracle that any of those three QB prospects would still be available. McCarthy, however, is getting more hype of late, and could further improve his mock draft performance, depending on how he does at the 2024 NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
