EPL Update: Tottenham hopes to trump Euro giants in Landing 24-year-old Playmaker

Tottenham hoping to beat Euro giants to the signing of 24-year-old Playmaker

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Atalanta midfielder Ederson and they will face competition from Juventus for his signature.

According to a report from Napoli Magazine, the North London outfit have targeted the 24-year-old Brazilian midfielder and they could look to make a move for him in the coming months. He has established himself as a key player for the Italian club and his performances have been quite impressive in recent months.

The 24-year-old is capable of operating as a central midfielder as well as an attacking midfielder. He will add creativity and control in the middle of the park for Tottenham and they could certainly use someone with his skill set.

Ederson has picked up six goals and an assist across all competitions this season and the opportunity to move to Tottenham could be an attractive one for him. Playing regularly in the Premier League will help him improve and he could look to compete for trophies with the London club.

The Brazilian has a contract with Atalanta until the summer of 2026 and the Italian outfit could demand as substantial amount of money for him in the summer.

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hospur could make a late bid for Atalanta defensive midfielder Ederson.

That is according to a report in NapoliMagazine, which has noted Tottenham’s current stance on the Brazilian.

So, what has been reported about Tottenham Hotspur and Ederson? Let’s take a look.

Tottenham Hotspur ready to bid for Ederson

Well, according to NapoliMagazine, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Ederson from Atalanta in the final days of the January transfer window.

The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that after signing defender Radu Dragusin from Genoa earlier this month, Spurs are now ready to bid for Atalanta defensive midfielder Ederson.

The report has noted that Tottenham are “ready” to make an “assault” for Ederson, adding that the Premier League club would have to beat Juventus to the signing of the midfielder who cost Atalanta €15 million (£13 million) in transfer fees when they signed him in the summer of 2022 (TMW).

My View: Atalanta do not need to sign Ederson

In my opinion, Tottenham Hotspur do not need to sign Ederson from Atalanta in the coming days.

I do not think that Spurs need to strengthen their central/defensive midfield for the time being.

Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma are brilliant central midfielders.

Oliver Skipp is also a very good option for Spurs in the middle of the park. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is still at Tottenham.

Ederson has made 20 starts and one substitute appearance in Serie A for Atalanta this season. He has scored five goals and given one assist in those matches.

The Brazilian has also scored one goal in four starts and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Europa League this campaign.
