JSUT IN: The essential five-star for the Golden State Warriors has a hamstring problem
Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr has something to say about Draymond Green’s early return from suspension. Before Sunday night’s game against the Orlando Magic, Kerr gave a brief response to the media about when Green will return.
When asked if he was still with Green, Kerr said he usually tries to get the player to make amends.
Green was ejected for the third time this season on Dec. 12 when he hit Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in the face.
The Nurkic incident prompted the league to suspend Green indefinitely the day after the concussion, a move the league and Golden State agreed to.
Kerr supported the league’s decision to suspend Green and said the player should be outraged. ‘For me, this is more than basketball.
“This is an opportunity for Draymond to step back and change his approach to life. The answer is to help Draymond. Fortunately, a ray of hope has emerged in the world of Bay Area basketball.”
Despite losing to the Denver Nuggets on Christmas Day, the Golden State Warriors have improved in recent games.
Just a few weeks ago, things weren’t so crazy when Draymond Green took down Jusuf Nurkic in the Warriors’ win over the Phoenix Suns on Dec. 12.
Since Green’s suspension, the Warriors have gone 5-2, including their fifth straight game, thanks to Steve Kerr’s coaching.
In addition to the fact that the Warriors are having a lot of fun playing, many of Golden State’s young players have stepped up in Green’s absence.
Jonathan Kuminga gives the Golden State Warriors a new offensive attack. A dynamic athlete at 6 feet 8 inches, his strength, athleticism and skill have been instrumental in the Warriors’ success this season.
His growth will be key to helping the team achieve its goals this season and win games. Kuminga has scored twice in 11 of his last 12 games, making just six turnovers in that time.
Additionally, Warriors forwards Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis also appeared last week. Drafted 19th overall by the Braves, Podziemski won first base and became a two-way player for the Braves who could hit deep.
Additionally, his disruptive play on defense is one of the main reasons why he averaged 2.1 steals per game in 7 carries.
Meanwhile, Jackson Davis gives the Warriors a running threat and edge defense — a style they lacked in their heyday. During this period, Jackson Davis played two games – 10 points and 13 rebounds against Boston and 10 points and 15 rebounds against Washington.
Although the Warriors have shown their depth since Green’s suspension, the team still needs him.
Green has been one of the main reasons the Warriors have won four championships over the past decade and will continue to be a vital part of the Golden State Warriors.
He will continue to provide defense and value to the team, but his production and chemistry with Stephen Curry will be unparalleled.
His work shows on the court, and for the most part, Green has excelled on the court for the Golden State Warriors.
In terms of grade strength, the Warriors have a -6.1-efficiency rating with Green on the court and a -11.2 points difference per 100 possessions when he’s on the floor.
Golden State Warriors – No Draymond Green stats Maintenance level 113.6 and with Green is 119.8. While elite scouting suggests Green is a liability for the Golden State Warriors, he’s still by far the best and most experienced defender.
He’s still a player who has good chemistry with Curry and has been putting up good numbers this season. This season, he averaged 12.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game, shooting 51.1% from the field and 45.0% from three-point range, including 1.8 field goals.
Additionally, with the Braves lacking size, Green remains their favorite against the league’s biggest hitters. Even if the Warriors continue to win without Green and young players like Kuminga, Podziemski, and Jackson-Davis continue to play at a high level, imagine Kerr benching one of the main catalysts of their dynasty.
It’s still difficult to do. Green will likely assume some sort of starting role and continue to get plenty of playing time, but Kerr will need to find playing time due to the Warriors’ current youth movement.
