Even after yet another victory, Ronnie O’Sullivan “hasn’t got a clue where the balls are going.”

Ronnie O’Sullivan insisted his need for a break from snooker after a harsh assessment of his performance despite edging Zhou Yuelong to move into the quarter-finals of the World Grand Prix

Ronnie O’Sullivan has admitted he ‘hasn’t a clue where the balls are going’ despite his victory in the World Grand Prix.

The snooker icon moved into the quarter-finals of the competition after a narrow 4-3 victory over Zhou Yuelong on Thursday (January 18). Despite the win which continues the remarkable season he’s had with triumphing in two of the sport’s three majors, the 48-year-old admitted that he has “no enjoyment” from his current form

Following his victory, The Rocket spoke to ITV and to the surprise of the viewers, he suggested he may not be around for much longer, despite a clash with Scottish Open champion Gary Wilson on Friday (January 19).

“I can’t fathom it out,” said the eight-time Masters champ. “I’ve got to really consider whether I can continue feeling how I’m feeling out there. I just don’t get any enjoyment from the way I’m hitting the ball.

“It’s just hard work, and I haven’t a clue where the balls are going. It is just guesswork. And it is a struggle.” He was despondent about the sport as once again he stated that he needs a break from snooker.

I’m getting no enjoyment out of it to be honest with you. I definitely need a break at least. But it’s been like this for 25 or 30 years. So it’s nothing different. It’s the only thing I’ve known. And it’s hard not to do this because its my job.”

Fresh off his record-breaking victory against Ali Carter in the Masters last week, O’Sullivan was told to clear the air with his bitter rival after unleashing an explicit-filled rant towards the Englishman after his victory.
