The Philadelphia 76ers have set an ambitious plan this season to try and lure Paul George into coming to the city after spending the last five season in his hometown. Of course, the road to get there won’t be easy at the slightest, but fans and pundits alike have already billed the team as the runaway favorites to sign the All-Star should he leave the Clippers.

A Joel Embiid-Tyrese Maxey-Paul George triumvirate would be among the league’s most potent and it should be good enough to get the franchise over the hump, health permitting. However, it seems like not everyone is on board with the idea of Philadelphia becoming George’s next home.

Former NBA Veteran blasts 76ers, Paul George amid rumored pursuit

Evan Turner, who spent four years in Philly, doesn’t appear to be too keen about the prospect of George being the star to hunt for the 76ers, throwing a jab toward the All-Star and even Embiid in the Point Forward podcast.

“PG has a history of not showing up. I never met a human that would let a media rumor drive his energy or personality. You know how soft that team gonna be if him and Embiid go together?”

Turner has been on the giving end of multiple questionable and puzzling takes since he entered the world of podcasting, but for the sake of being objective, it must also be noted that he was once George’s temmate, having spent half a season in Indiana during the 2013-14 season.

However, Turner’s opinion could also be too skewed to rely on. After all, his stint with the Pacers was one that became notable for the team falling from grace after looking dominant early on to the point where he was deemed to be one of the main culprits behind that squad’s drastic fall-off.

Still, people should probably not give too much heft on Turner’s remarks, especially when he’s barely had meaningful playoff success for his career. Ultimately, one thing’s for sure — George would be a dream fit with the 76ers, whether he likes it or not.
