Captivating: Former MVP’s Preferred Landing Spot is with the Phillies
When discussing free agents or tradeable talents, the Philadelphia Phillies are frequently mentioned.
The Phillies have demonstrated that they will be aggressive in pursuing any upgrade that they believe is worth making a move for. Dave Dombrowski recognizes that this could be Philadelphia’s greatest chance to win a World Series.
Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, Aaron Nola, and the other key players aren’t getting any younger. Cody Bellinger is one of several alternatives available to the Phillies.
Will Leitch of MLB.com ranks Philadelphia as the seventh-best landing spot for the former MVP. “Now that Bryce Harper is a first baseman, there’s more room in the outfield, although Philly might not want to displace young Johan Rojas and his elite range from center.
Bellinger would seem to fit in with this entertaining group, and the Phils do love signing free agents, but this just wouldn’t be addressing a major area of need at this point.”
he idea of Bellinger in Philadelphia is a fun one. Given the excitement around the team in the city, adding another fan favorite would only make things better. However, the fit for Bellinger is an interesting one given the team already has three every game left-handed bats. While that isn’t necessarily an issue, the Phillies might opt to add a right-handed hitting outfielder if they make a move.
After disappointing postseasons for Nick Castellanos, the organization could feel the need to make a move. It’s still early, and it might look like Philadelphia is done, but don’t sleep on this front office as they’ll make any move to make their team better.
