Golden State Warriors got an Offer for a Trade of their Star Player

Just-In: The Golden State Warriors received a Trade Deal for their Star Player

One of the bigger developments for the Golden State Warriors this season has been the complicated dynamic between Jonathan Kuminga and Andrew Wiggins.

With the two players bringing a lot of the same strengths and weaknesses, Steve Kerr has typically tried to keep them separated, which only leaves so many minutes for one or the other.

Breaking this all down in a recent article, Tim Kawakami of The Athletic went through all of the possibilities, including the increased possibility of Wiggins being traded.

“Side note: Though I’ve said in the past that the Warriors might be reluctant to trade Wiggins so soon after he signed a relatively bargain-rate contract extension specifically so he could remain with this team, I’ve since heard that this would not be a major barrier for the Warriors to explore Wiggins’ trade market,” Kawakami wrote.

“Especially if he can’t play with Kuminga and the Warriors decide that Kuminga is their full-time small forward.” While this of course does not mean that Wiggins will be dealt, is does seem as if the possibility is much more open now than it has been at any point since Wiggins was an All-Star for the Warriors.

This will certainly be a situation to monitor, especially if the Warriors continue to disappoint with their record. The trade deadline could be active for Golden State.

According to a Warriors insider, the Dubs are willing to trade Andrew Wiggins for valuable championship pieces

The Golden State Warriors are having a tough season, and Andrew Wiggins” poor performance is a big part of the problem. Despite being a key player in their 2022 title win, Wiggins is not living up to expectations, and the Warriors are considering trading him to salvage their season.

According to Tim Kawakami, who writes about the Warriors, the team is open to exploring trade options for Wiggins. Even though they once saw him as a vital part of their future, his recent struggles have raised concerns. The Warriors are particularly disappointed with his shooting and overall effectiveness on the court, leading to a significant reduction in his playing time.

The Warriors, with stars like Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, still aim to compete for a championship. However, the supporting cast hasn”t stepped up enough. To address this, the team is actively looking to make trades. Wiggins, being on the trading block, could bring invaluable assets to help the Warriors extend their championship window.

One potential trade partner is the Toronto Raptors in Canada. Given Wiggins” Canadian roots, the Raptors might be interested. In return, the Warriors could target players like OG Anunoby, Gary Trent Jr., or even Pascal Siakam if the Raptors sweeten the deal.

Another option is the Portland Trail Blazers, who have veterans available for trade. The Warriors could negotiate a deal to bring in Jerami Grant and/or Malcolm Brogdon, providing much-needed depth and scoring to support Curry in the backcourt. Overall, the Warriors are actively seeking trades to improve their roster and stay competitive.
