“We’ll give him an opportunity to see if there’s a better situation that he deems appropriate for himself,” McVay said. “But we love him here, and if he ends up staying here, I’ll certainly be happy about that.”
The Rams added White on a one-year, $10 million contract this past offseason after he was released by the Buffalo Bills. Thus far, he hasn’t looked like the former two-time Pro Bowler.
“It just hasn’t gone as what I think any of us would have liked up to this point,” McVay said. “In fairness to him, he was playing a lot more snaps than we anticipated because of all the injuries that we had at that corner spot in particular.”
Despite the rough start to his Los Angeles tenure, McVay praised White for how he’s handled the situation with the Rams.
“He’s been such a pro about the way he’s handled it,” McVay said. “Obviously not an ideal situation for him, the way that he’s practiced, the way that he’s been a pro in every sense of the word when he hasn’t been active for the past three weeks. Guy wants an opportunity to be able to compete. We love him here. We’d like to keep him here, but if that is something that he and his agent want to be able to explore, we’re obviously respectful and understanding of that.”
While White doesn’t appear to be the player he once was, he could still be a big help to a team looking to win a Super Bowl this year. Here are three potential fits for White:
1. Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings have lost two in a row after starting the season 5-0. Brian Flores and the Vikings defense could use some cornerbacks, and White would be a great fit as a potential midseason turnaround candidate.
2. Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens’ Super Bowl window is now, and they could use some depth at the cornerback due to injuries.
3. Buffalo Bills
The Bills cut White this past offseason to save money. Now, they could look to bring him back to a secondary that could use some help at a fraction of the price.
