Analyzing Strategy: How Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers saw their Offense Sputter on Field
The Green Bay Packers’ offense sputtered at times against the New York Giants, led by Jordan Love. It was a very different offense than we had seen in the previous three weeks. It should be emphasized that the offense was missing a couple important weapons during the weekend. Aaron Jones, Luke Musgrave, and Christian Watson were all unable to attend the Monday Night Football game.
The Packers were able to reclaim a significant weapon for Love today.
Today’s practice sees the return of Green Bay Packers rookie tight end Luke Musgrave.
Musgrave, according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, returned to practice today.
Many expected Musgrave to miss the final seven games of his rookie season due to a lacerated kidney. While he isn’t eligible to return from the Injured Reserve list until Week 16, seeing him back on the field today was a great boost.
Prior to his injury, Musgrave was on pace to set rookie records for the Packers. Prior to their Week 12 game against the Detroit Lions, Wisconsin Sports Heroics’ Robin Adams wrote the following:
If Musgrave is able to come back from injured reserve next week, this offense will get a massive boost.

Jayden Reed of the Green Bay Packers worked out on Thursday ahead of his game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jayden Reed, a wide receiver with the Green Bay Packers, took part in practice on Thursday. Reed was labeled as limited on Wednesday due to an ankle issue. This is good news for Green Bay considering they play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-7) on Sunday.
The Packers are attempting to maintain their seventh-place finish in the NFC after falling to the New York Giants 24-22 on Monday night. Reed exited the game in concussion protocol, but he wasn’t on the injury report on Wednesday.
Jayden Reed practicing on Thursday means that he should also practice on Friday. Jayden Reed has been one of the best players on the Packers’ offense this season. Quarterback Jordan Love is at his best this season when he finds him in the passing game.
The Green Bay Packers Wide Receiving Core Along With Jayden Reed Is on Track to Play on Sunday Except for Christian Watson
One of the biggest worries for the Packers on Tuesday morning was how was the receiving core going to be health-wise ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Two days later, it appears as if Green Bay will have most of its receiving core on Sunday.
Reed is probably the most important receiver on the roster. He is on track to be the second wide receiver this weekend behind Romeo Doubs because Christain Watson did not practice on Thursday because of his hamstring injury.
What’s also fortunate for Green Bay is that, in addition to youngster Reed, rookie Dontayvion Wicks practiced despite suffering an ankle injury. He was hurt during the game against the New York Giants and did not return.
Having Doubs, Reed, and Wicks possibly this weekend for Love is a very good thing. It would have been disastrous for the Packers if Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and Christian Watson were all not practicing on Thursday. It is better that Malik Heath and Sami Toure can be the fourth and fifth wide receivers on the depth chart this weekend rather than Jordan Love’s second and third receiving options also.
