Injury Updates: During the Nuggets-Nets game, Nikola Jokic Suffered a Deep, Nasty Gash
Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets scored 31 points, had 11 rebounds, and seven assists in a 122-117 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night, but he only attempted five free throws.
That’s noteworthy because Jokic was mugged for the majority of the night but couldn’t get a call. It was so severe that the 28-year-old was a bleeding mess at the end of the game.
Jokic sustained a severe, seeping cut to his right arm, which soaked a portion of his jersey, turning it from white to scarlet.
Jokic’s arms are badly scarred from countless wounds over the years, so this is nothing new for him.
“I have the most scratches in the league.” “I’m always bleeding — it’s something I’m used to,” he told ESPN in 2019.
Jokic has previously stated that he intends to begin wearing long sleeves during games, although this has never materialized. He continues to wear the normal NBA jersey, putting his war wounds on full show.
The gash suffered by Jokic on Friday night was deep enough that it will undoubtedly leave yet reminder of what life in the NBA is like for the two-time Most Valuable Player.

The Nets lose a close one to the Nuggets 117-122
The Nets put themselves in the right positions to help win the game, but the Denver Nuggets got the better of them by the end. This is Brooklyn’s fifth straight loss, the most consecutive defeats for the team this season.
Coach Jacque Vaughn’s men had a golden opportunity to win the game but couldn’t box out Jamal Murray when he missed his free throw. He hit another pair of shots from the charity stripe, helping them win 117-122.
“Yeah, it’s interesting. You know, same strategy we had used the play before when Cam makes the three. So at that time, when you’re down, you have limited timeouts, you have to take calculated risks,” Vaughn said about the free-throw rebound debacle.
The Nuggets’ stars overwhelmed the Nets
While the Nets performed well, they struggled to defend Denver’s two stars, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. The two-time MVP had a near triple-double of 31 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists, while Jamal had 32 points, five rebounds, and nine assists.
