Iconic Warriors General Manager Says Boston Celtics Tried to Trade for Steph Curry.

During an episode of The Woj Pod, former Golden State Warriors GM Bob Myers joined ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski for a discussion that covered several different topics. During the episode, Myers revealed that Danny Ainge tried trading for Steph Curry when he was the Boston Celtics GM, but those talks didn’t go very far.

“I never was upset at anybody asking [for Curry],” Myers said. “The GM’s job is to mine for trades. That’s a GM’s job. But [Danny] Ainge was the one that was always asking… We just laughed. Like I said we have a really good relationship. But you know, you got to ask. I mean, everybody knew that wasn’t happening, so it was kind of a good laugh.

Ainge and Myers had a good relationship, and it seems the then Celtics GM knew there was no chance at acquiring Curry from the Warriors, but it was something he had to shoot his shot at. As Myers tells it, the two had a good laugh when Ainge brought Curry’s name up, knowing there was no chance of that ever happening.

Curry is one of the few superstars in NBA history who can say they stayed on one team their entire career. He and the Warriors have remained loyal to each other through ups and downs, and that doesn’t seem like something that will ever change.

Klay Thompson Shares Strong Message Amid Contract Rumors

Always playing with a chip on his shoulder, Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson may be more locked in than ever this season. Amid reports about he and the Warriors being far apart on a contract extension, Thompson shared a strong message on Instagram with Tupac’s “Me Against the World” and a caption that read, “The type a energy I’m on all season.

As previously mentioned, Thompson always plays with this mentality, so this certainly may not be directly related to the recent report about his contract. That said, there is now a major added incentive for the Warriors star to have a big season, because this will likely be his last opportunity to secure long term money in the NBA.

With mutual interest between Thompson and the Warriors to get a deal done, it still feels likely the two sides extend their partnership at some point, but that may not come before the season begins. This of course adds some level of uncertainty, but it might not be the worst situation for Thompson and the team, as they can allow this season to determine what makes the most sense for both sides.

Golden State has accomplished the rare feat of keeping a core together this long, and certainly want to have Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green all retire with the Warriors.
