The coaches at Newcastle United currently believe that their 21-year-old player…

It is not easy to play for Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United, but Tino Livramento is proving to be an exception to the rule.

It takes a lot of players a decent amount of time to settle in and understand Eddie Howe‘s style of play. Anthony Gordon might be our best player this season, but he really struggled immediately after his arrival at St James’ Park.

The Newcastle boss has a very specific way of playing that takes time to adapt to, but Tino Livramento has shown no signs of struggling.

Instead, Toon staff have reportedly been very impressed at how quickly the 21-year-old has adapted to life in a black and white shirt after his £32million arrival from Southampton last summer.

How Newcastle coaches view Tino Livramento right now

According to the Athletic, Newcastle United’s coaches believe that Livramento is ‘like a sponge’, such is his ability to take in information and implement it into his game.

They add that Howe has been impressed by how quickly Livramento understood what was required to play as a full-back in his team.

The defender made his first Toon start against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup, at a time when the jury was still out among Newcastle fans. However, Livramento quickly won them over with a blistering performance. He shut down Jack Grealish, as the Magpies won 1-0 to advance to the next round.

Since then, Livramento has barely put a foot wrong when called upon. We have seen him on the right and the left of defence, showcasing the flexibility that Howe loves in his players.

No matter which side he is on, Livramento always looks assured. That is a testament to his ability to soak up information and implement what the coaching staff want.

Livramento was a major investment last summer, yet he is already looking like value for money. He is the future of the Newcastle defence, and we will get another glimpse of that future when he starts out next two games due to Kieran Trippier being injured.
