Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Coach Signs With The Las Vegas Raiders
According to reports, the Raiders will hire former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy as their next offensive coordinator after Kliff Kingsbury rebuffed their offer.
A contract is being negotiated between the two sides, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer. In recent days, Kingsbury was expected to land the job, but pulled out of negotiations Saturday. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the former Arizona Cardinals head coach is the favorite to take over as offensive coordinator of Dan Quinn’s Washington Commanders.
Before he was fired from the Bears, Getsy spent the last two seasons as their offensive coordinator. During each of Getsy’s years running the offense, Chicago ranked in the bottom half of the NFL in total yards and scoring, and quarterback Justin Fields received criticism for his lack of development.
However, prior to that Getsy was the quarterbacks coach in Green Bay from 2019 to 2022. Aaron Rodgers won back to back MVPs during that span and the Packers won 13 games three straight seasons. It will be interesting to see what type of offense is ran in Las Vegas under Luke Getsy.
