2024 NFL Mock Draft 2.0: Jayden Daniels makes big move, first round full of OL, WR, CBs
The first round of th 2024 NFL Draft is chock full of franchise-level quarterbacks and quality prospects at offensive line, wide receiver, and cornerback.
For an NFL team in need of a franchise quarterback, this is the year to get one. Next year’s draft class (2025) is expected to be a lot weaker for high-end quarterback talent, and 2024 has a few signal-callers that are considered can’t-miss prospects.
USC’s Caleb Williams, North Carolina’s Drake Maye, and LSU’s Jayden Daniels, the 2023 Heisman Winner, headline this year’s draft. The quarterbacks will forever be connected. There has been plenty of back and forth on whether Williams and Maye should be the No. 1 pick. And recently, Daniels has entered the conversation.
Beyond the quarterbacks, the first round in 2024 is a great place to find a left tackle for the future, a star wide receiver to help out the offense, or enhance the secondary with a lockdown cornerback.

Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens earned a bye for the opening weekend of the NFL playoffs
The NFL’s playoffs have reached the conference championships with the two games set for Sunday. A trio of former Louisville quarterbacks remain in the postseason, as Lamar Jackson leads Baltimore with Malik Cunningham also on the Ravens roster as a reserve. Teddy Bridgewater, who announced his retirement a few weeks ago, is a reserve quarterback for the Detroit Lions.
The weekend’s action will begin with Jackson leading Baltimore against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC title game at 3:00 pm on CBS. Detroit will visit San Francisco in the NFL title game at 6:30pm on Fox.
The game in Baltimore marks the first time the city has hosted the AFC Championship game since the Colts resided in the city and Johnny Unitas – another UofL great – was behind center. It was 1971 and the Unitas-led Colts defeated the Oakland Raiders to advance to Super Bowl V where they defeated Dallas. It’s been a 53-year wait.
Jackson guided the Baltimore to the AFC’s No. 1 seed. Leading Baltimore to an 11-4 regular season record, the 2016 Heisman winner completed 307 of 457 passes for 3,678 yards, 24 touchdowns with seven interceptions, while also rushed for 821 yards and five touchdowns on 148 carries. He capped off the regular season by being selected as the AFC Player of the Month.
Still, Jackson, the NFL’s MVP in 2019, has secured just one playoff victory in his time at Baltimore. Jackson’s post-season success, or lack of, is a worthy point to discuss for some. On that note, speaking with Tom Brady and Jim Gray on the ‘Let’s Go podcast,’ Jackson admits that he remains driven to proven doubters wrong.
“I definitely do have that chip on my shoulder,” Jackson said. “I haven’t accomplished what I wanted to yet, so that’s why that chip is still on my shoulder. I want that Super Bowl. That’s the accolade that I really want so bad. … I feel like we have the team to do it. We have the guys in the building, coaching staff, training staff, equipment guys, we got everything we need right now.”
Facing Houston last week in the NFL’s Division round, Jackson completed 16-of-22 passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 100 yards and two scores on 11 carries to lead the Ravens to a 34-10 victory. The performance against the Texans marked yet another first-ever moment for Jackson as he became the first player in NFL history (regular season or postseason) to record two passing touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns, rush for at least 100 yards, and register at least a 100.0 passer rating.
Malik Cunningham is also on the Ravens active roster for the playoffs.
Baltimore is a four-point favorite.
As the AFC’s No. 1 seed, Baltimore secured a bye for the opening weekend of the NFL’s playoffs. The Ravens current odds (+180) make them the second favorite to win the Super Bowl behind San Fransisco. The Chiefs are the third favorite (+350).
