Warriors’ two starting players against the Sixers are listed as injured
After suffering a loss to the Dallas Mavericks Monday, the Philadelphia 76ers are back in action on their home floor. Next up on the schedule is a meeting with Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors. Wednesday will mark the second meeting in as many weeks for these two teams. The last time the Sixers faced the Warriors, they suffered a 119-107 defeat.
This game ended up making headlines as Joel Embiid was injured after Jonathan Kuminga awkwardly fell on him. As these squads get ready to do battle again, Golden State could be without two of their starters. Draymond Green is questionable due to a right knee contusion, and Andrew Wiggins is questionable with a left ankle injury. Wiggins, who played alongside Embiid in college, is in the midst of a down year.
This season, he is averaging a career-low 12.2 PPG. Wiggins’ struggles have led to his name coming up in rumors leading up to the trade deadline. As for Green, he has missed a majority of the season due to multiple suspensions. When on the floor, the former DPOY is averaging 9.1 PPG, 6.4 RPG, and 6.2 APG. Two years removed from winning an NBA title, the Warriors find themselves near the bottom of the standings.
They currently sit in 12th place in the Western Conference with a 22-25 record. Golden State enters their matchup with the Sixers having won three of their last four games.
Due to the absence of Embiid, the Sixers have seen themselves slide down the standings. After sitting in third place for most of the year, they now sit at No. 5. That said, they are still very much within striking distance. Philly sits just two-and-a-half games out of second place.
