Las Vegas Raiders Land 2024 Heisman Finalist in Major NFL Blockbuster Deal as big part of the Las  Raiders’ lineup

Ever since 2014, Derek Carr has been a big part of the Las Vegas Raiders’ lineup. With last season as the first without the quarterback, the team could use young talent at the position by selecting Michael Penix Jr. in the upcoming NFL Draft.

The previous season didn’t really start well for the Raiders late last year. Following a loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 8, the team let head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler go. In their place, the front office named Antonio Pierce as the new coach and Champ Kelly as Ziegler’s replacement.

Las Vegas Raiders, Davante Adams, Arizona Cardinals, Marvin Harrison Jr.

Ultimately, those changes led the Vikings to an 8-9 finish for the regular season, which placed them second in the AFC West division. But even with that record, the team still failed to grab a playoff spot, making it the second consecutive year this happened to the Vikings.

Las Vegas has a lot of needs before the upcoming season starts, specifically a talented quarterback to run the offense. Seth Walder explains why selecting Michael Penix Jr. in the upcoming NFL Draft makes sense in his article for ESPN:

“Like the division rival Broncos, the Raiders need a quarterback and sit in a draft position where taking one makes a lot of sense. I’ve opted to pair them with Penix (Washington) here, in part because they’re behind Denver and Minnesota in the draft order and also because Penix was the sixth quarterback off the board in Matt Miller’s latest mock draft.

But the Raiders might not need to pick Penix at No. 13; they could trade down and nab him later in Round 1 or take him in Round 2 if the board falls in their favor,” Walder wrote.

If Las Vegas plays its cards right and gets to pick Penix in the draft, the young quarterback will have a chance to play at a high level and have a solid chance to start next year. In any case, landing him will be a big win for the Raiders.
